09/20 Local Author Day!  Author's attending MDFM's Local Authors' Day are...

Claire Banschbach - born and raised in Midland. A recent graduate of Texas A&M, who is still working towards her Doctorate in physical therapy at the Texas Tech Health Science Center. The Rise of Aredor is her first published work with, hopefully, more adventures to come!

Lee Florence - His latest work "Last Testament of an Ordinary Man & Other Stories" is a collection of eight short stories. He is currently writing a novel about the Southwest entitled "Sojourn of the Wayfarer". He graduated from Lee High School and lived in Midland, off and on, for fifty-eight years, he went on to graduated from Texas Tech University, and has enjoyed a career in the food and wine business, specializing in Italian food and wines (which explains why his favorite place in the world is Tuscany!)

Elizabeth A. Garcia - Beth has written and published three Deputy Ricos Tales, including "One Bloody Shirt at a Time" which won “2014 Best Crime Fiction of the Year” from the Texas Authors Association, "The Beautiful Bones", "Darker Than Black", and coming soon "Border Ghosts (Tale 4)" Beth has lived in the Big Bend Country of far west Texas for 35 years, and her novels are set in that beautiful area. Before starting her writing career, she owned and managed Big Bend Rivers in Lajitas, TX for 15 years. Her future includes 12 Deputy Ricos novels planned and four novels unrelated to the series. You can catch her every week in her weekly column in the Alpine Avalanche.

Jimmy Patterson - Jimmy Patterson and his wife, Karen, moved his family to Midland 26 years ago. He was a writer and editor for the Midland Reporter-Telegram for 16 years and has continued to provide stories for them since he left in 2009 to pursue the writing of his book, "A History of Character: The Story of Midland, Texas.." He has also written "Sticky Doorknobs", "Chisos Mountain Sunset", and "Absence of Principal"

Joyce Shaughnessy - Joyce lives in Midland with her husband, Dennis. She has published A Healing Place, Blessed Are the Merciful, The Unsurrendered, Gryffon Master, and Mr. Grumpy Lizard Meets the Giggling Girls, a picture book illustrated by her husband. She has also written several short stories included in anthologies, Lava Storm, World of Pirates, and Dangerous Days, which she also edited.

Toni Spearman - Toni Spearman is a published author and editor in Midland, TX. She writes self-help and inspirational books about life, family and Christianity. Currently she has five published works and four unpublished titles that will debut in the summer of 2015. Toni is a wife and a mother of three who loves volunteering, traveling and chocolate covered peanuts! Her published titles include: "The 2 Faces of a Preacher's Wife", "This Day (For Lovers Only)", "I Will Hope in the Lord", "I Will Trust in the Lord", "I Will Bless the Lord" and some of the titles coming in 2015 include: "Pillow Talk (An Intimate Dialogue between Married Women)", "Pray Mama Pray", "Deliverance Is A Beautiful Thing", and "Children of Prerogative."

Ann Swan  - Ann lives in Texas with her husband and rescue pets. She loves libraries and book stores and owns two e-readers just for fun. Ann writes what she likes to read. Her paranormal book series centers around a couple of teenage ghost-magnets: "Stevie-girl and the Phantom Pilot", "Stevie-girl and The Phantom Student", and "Stevie-girl and The Phantom of Crybaby Bridge
which have all been on Amazon’s bestseller lists for scary tales and ghost stories. Ann also writes a Romantic Suspense series for 5 Prince Publishing: Book One is "Stutter Creek" (Amazon bestseller), and Book Two is "Lilac Lane", which was just released in July. Book three will be out in 2015. Ann’s other published novel is All For Love, a women’s novel of heartache and hope. It has also been an Amazon bestseller for Literary Fiction. Ann’s story, Soul Gardener, was originally published in Timeless, an anthology of paranormal love stories. She has also published short fiction in The Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine, The Binnacle, and several local magazines and anthologies. She also has an apocalyptic horror novel coming out in 2015.

This is your last chance of the year to trade off those magazines that have been read, but you just can't seem to get rid of. If you have been looking for a home for all those wonderful articles, recipes, and ideas - we have a solution! Tables for leaving your magazines on will be located in the center of the market, you can take magazines from those tables home with you to read so that they get a second life! All magazines that remain at the end of the day will be donated to the Pink Ladies at MMH. What better way to pass along knowledge and FUN! Please keep all magazines family friendly! There is going to be so much knowledge in the air on Saturday that you might get smart just breathing the air!
